December brought some new traditions and exciting activities to Calderdale Retreat
As we continue to grow at Calderdale Retreat, we have been lucky enough to benefit from some excellent ideas, as staff, residents and their families have continued to make Calderdale Retreat a true community.
Inside Calderdale, Sue, the daughter of one of our residents, has very kindly donated her time to help us enhance the environment for those people at varying stages of their journey with dementia.
In the image above, you can see Sue standing beside her beautiful creation – our very own Digni-tree – which she painted. People are invited to write on a leaf what dignity means to them and then stick the leaf on the tree for all to see.
Our residents have also been enjoying Face Time with their loved ones using newly acquired tablets. One lady in particular was overjoyed at being able to see and speak to her son when he was unable to visit.
Supporting relationships between people and their families and friends is important to us at Calderdale Retreat, so it’s brought immense pleasure to us to be able to offer a means of this happening.
